Bil Senedd Cymru (Rhestrau Ymgeiswyr Etholiadol)| Senedd Cymru (Electoral Candidate Lists) Bill

Ymateb gan Unigolyn | Evidence from Individual

What are your views on the general principles of the Bill and the need for legislation to deliver the Welsh Government’s stated policy objective (to make the Senedd a more effective legislature by ensuring it is broadly representative of the gender make-up of the population)?

I agree with the intention to promote equality for women.  I am very concerned that the consultation refers to 'gender' and not to 'sex'.  I'm also very concerned that male-bodied people may be allowed to identify as women and so take places from actual women. I am furious that men have been able to self-identify (including men with fully male anatomy and without a GRC ) as women and use this self-ID to access women-only spaces, sports at all levels, changing rooms, job opportunities etc - and to wreck, for instance, statistical accounting of crimes including violent and sexual violence.  Please ensure that the legislation is sex-based and positive action for women is restricted to those born female.

What are your views on the system of enforcement and potential sanctions for non-compliance proposed in the Bill?

Outrageous. We've fought hard for women's rights and I object strongly to our rights being handed over to men on the basis they 'feel' they are a woman.

Are there any potential barriers to the implementation of the Bill’s provisions? If so, what are they, and are they adequately taken into account in the Bill and the accompanying Explanatory Memorandum and Regulatory Impact Assessment?

Real women will never accept that men who self-ID as a woman actually is a woman. We will continue to fight hard for the rights of real women.

Are any unintended consequences likely to arise from the Bill?

Y or N depending on what the people drafting the bill intended.....    However there are many ADVERSE effects from these proposals.  Any man who claims to be a woman will be declared so - making a complete mockery of positive action to support the women who face real oppression and discrimination.

What are your views on the Welsh Government’s assessment of the financial and other impacts of the Bill?

no comment

What are your views on the balance between the information contained on the face of the Bill and what is left to subordinate legislation? Are the powers for Welsh Ministers to make subordinate legislation appropriate?

Legistlation should make it clear that the intention is to support sex-based positive action.

Do you have any views on matters relating to the legislative competence of the Senedd including compatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights?

I believe these proposals are contrary to the sex-based protections in current law.

Do you have any views on matters related to the quality of the legislation, or to the constitutional or other implications of the Bill?

Shocking quality. This bill is clearly drafted by or with authority from men's rights / trans activists.

Are there any other issues that you would like to raise about the Bill and the accompanying Explanatory Memorandum or any related matters?

I am shocked that a generally progressive Labour Government is promoting this men's rights bill.  Women have not fought for decades and centuries to hand over our rights to any man who declares he is a woman. Shame on you.

Anything else?
